An Intimate Elopement at The Lightner Museum Courtyard

Tayler & Kylar — October 23rd, 2021

When I first met with the Tayler and Kylar they specified that wedding portraits were an extremely important part of their wedding day and I was honored to take up the task.  A good storyteller knows the importance of the setting and I wanted to provide a masterclass of some of my favorite locations throughout the oldest founded city in the United States.   The couple had their first look on one of the countries oldest streets, Palm Row.  The cobblestone walkway lined with palms caught the afternoon sun perfectly as the bride and groom got to lay eyes on one another just before the ceremony.

Now, Saint Augustine is oozing with historic charm and Spanish Renaissance architecture which made The Lightner Museum the perfect setting for the wedding.  The center courtyard was a lush garden oasis with towering palms shooting up to the sky.  The bride and groom were married at the center of a bridge over a beautiful koi fishpond surrounded by stone archways.   The intimate ceremony was shared with twenty of their closest friends and family which allowed me to photograph the entire wedding with the couple during portraits.  After getting some epic bridal portraits with the couple around the Lightner’s sprawling hallways, we headed to a spot voted as “one of the most beautiful streets in the United States” … the famous Magnolia Street.

The couple wanted photos at an iconic and romantic spot where they could share a moment alone before re-joining their guests.  Magnolia Street is a St Augustine classic known for the 100-year-old oak trees that line the street dripping with Spanish moss.  The classic southern style homes along the street are well kept and the old oaks frame the photos perfectly as they seem to continue forever down the road.  It was the perfect little hideaway.

This couple was a ton of fun to work with and any bride who wants to do a “trash the dress” brings a whole new element of fun to the work I get to do.  We decided that the sandy beaches of Vilano Beach would be the perfect spot.  The brides wedding dress train seemed to coalesce with the crashing waves as the bride and groom enjoyed an intimate moment in the waves as the sun set.  Major “Wicked Games” vibes.

So, congratulations to Tayler and Kylar and a giant thank you for choosing me to capture your day and explore this amazing city with you.
